Are you tired of PayPal’s high transaction fees and their lousy support? If so, there’s a solid alternative that you should be aware of: AlertPay.

PayPal is the number one online transaction company mainly because they were pretty much first out of the gate and they spent a lot of money on advertising. Plus, their early association with eBay ensured their rapid growth. But just because they’re the most widely used doesn’t mean that they’re the best.

AlertPay was established in 2004 and has quickly risen to be one of the top contenders to knock PayPal out of the top spot for online transactions.

One of the major advantages that AlertPay has over PayPal is their different account types. While PayPal mainly has one type of account with one fee structure, AlertPay offers multiple accounts designed to meet different needs; they even offer a starter account that allows people to send and receive money for free. This makes AlertPay a more versatile choice.

AlertPay also wins in the number of currencies supported. As of this writing, PayPal supports 18 currencies while AlertPay supports 22. In the area of countries supported, AlertPay wins handily with 206 supported countries compared to PayPal’s 17.

PayPal’s fees are something that many people — especially those who conduct a lot of business online — gripe about. AlertPay comes in with slightly lower fees than PayPal, which should make heavy users happy.

When doing any kind of financial transaction online security is a major concern. Both PayPal and AlertPay offer security measures to protect users, but some people have had their financial information compromised when using PayPal in the past. AlertPay employs some of the strictest security measures available today to keep user account information safe. Your credit card and bank account information are stored only in encrypted form on computers that are not connected to the Internet. When your information is being transferred over the internet, 128 bit SSL encryption is used to ensure your sensitive data is not legible by anyone on the internet.

In addition to their security measures, AlertPay also insures the money you hold in their accounts. All monies in AlertPay accounts are insured by both the FDIC and the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation.

It’s clear that, while AlertPay may not be the biggest when it comes to online transaction companies, their service, security and support make them the better choice.
